Dear Families,
Welcome to Sacred Heart School, Tatura — a place where every child is valued and supported to be their best. Our school is a vibrant Catholic community, with a deep commitment to ensuring that Gospel values underpin all we do. Our students are inspired by Catholic social teaching principles to become responsible and respectful members of society with a strong regard for the ‘common good’. Further, embedded within our school’s tradition are the values of the Mercy sisters, who founded our school in 1900. The Mercy values of Compassion, Hospitality, Justice, Respect, Service and Courage are recognised and celebrated. These values inspire us to ‘be our best’ which is the motto at the centre of our positive behaviour support framework.
Sacred Heart is a school which embraces education of the ‘whole person’ ensuring that each student is educated not only to grow and develop as a learner but also socially, emotionally and spiritually. Wellbeing of students is a high priority with dedicated wellbeing programs and initiatives to support our students and build a well community. Of note is our buddy program, where older students support and guide Foundation students.
We offer an excellent onsite before and after School Care program to support our busy families. Our program is overseen by the school ensuring high quality and compliant care for our children.
We pride ourselves on facilitating an inclusive environment where every student can thrive and is supported to be their best. Smaller class sizes, nurturing staff, and a welcoming family environment mean that each student receives the attention and encouragement they need to flourish and experience a strong sense of belonging.
Our teaching and learning program is underpinned by the initiatives within Magnify Sandhurst. This involves an emphasis on dynamic interaction and responsive teaching. The program supports the use of evidence-based, 21st-century teaching practices and has a firm basis in neuroscience particularly in ‘the science of learning’.
We offer a rich educational experience, including specialist programs taught by specialist staff including art, Italian, STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) music and Physical Education. We also have an optional instrumental music program (guitar and drums) for our students which provides additional opportunities for learning in music. Our students have extensive access to extracurricular activities such as choir, rock band, public speaking and many sporting activities.
Our school boasts extensive interventions to support students when they need additional support. Further to the support of their teachers, our students have access to support from learning support officers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and counsellors. Supervised indoor play opportunities is available for students who find the yard tricky to navigate.
Our classrooms are calm and structured with Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to help every child feel confident and safe. Teaching routines and setting clear consistent expectations and rules ensure that our students experience calm and predictable environments where learning and safety is prioritised.
We invite you to visit us and experience the Sacred Heart difference for yourself. We look forward to discussing the opportunities for your child at Sacred Heart School Tatura.
