Students take part in a program called FIRE Carriers. This program runs for the academic year. The acronym, FIRE, Stands for Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education. Students learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and peoples. It encourages students to learn about promoting cultural understanding, justice and healing. In addition, students leAs part of Senior Leadership, all Year Five studearn about significant Yorta Yora people and aspire to emulate their leadership qualities.
A special part of this program is students are commissioned as FIRE Carriers ( in Reconciliation Week) through a ceremony lead by Indigenous Leaders.
As FIRE Carriers, we will work hard at Sacred Heart to build respect, understanding and knowledge of our shared story with Aboriginal people.
